VIGO COUNTY, Ind. (KNN) – Parents say a local three-year-old is facing charges after he bought a movie using the family’s Apple TV remote.
It happened Wednesday morning on the southside of Vigo County.
Alex Essex allegedly bought the movie Maleficent: Mistress of Evil using the Apple TV in the living room.
According to a receipt obtained by KNN the movie was purchased just before 8:00 a.m. Parents said they were still in bed – and this was just a few minutes before Alex woke them up for the day.
“Our theory is Alex got up and tried to watch something. While pushing the buttons on the remote, he somehow made his way to the iTunes store and bought the movie,” Alex’s dad, Chris said, “We’ve never watched the first one, and if we decided to…we have Disney Plus for that.”
The movie cost around $20.
Parents say they plan to appeal the decision, but Apple is closed on New Year’s Day.
