I like to think of myself as a fairly put-together person. I write here for fun – I get paid to write in real life. As a journalist, I also question just about everything. I’m not one to take things at face value.
So we’ve all heard the song ‘I Saw Mommy Kissing Santa Claus.’ It’s a classic at this point. I always kind of assumed the song was about literally a kid seeing his mom kissing Santa…you know…when he snuck into the house to bring presents.
And then – last week – it clicked. That song is about MOMMY KISSING DADDY while THEY PUT PRESENTS UNDER THE TREE.
First, my mind was blown. I was like, I just figured something out. I am so smart. That thought process lasted about six-seconds. I went from overly excited to oh my god…I am an idiot. I should have realized this a long time ago.
It makes me feel better knowing my wife just came to the same time of conclusion a year or two ago with scarecrows. “It is made to scare crows! That’s why they call it a scarecrow!” she said out loud all excited-like.
Basically, I just needed to get this off my chest. It is my parent-friendly confession. Do you have any stories like this? You know, where you may have learned something that you should have known a long time ago…and thought you stumbled upon something really groundbreaking?
I love your hilarious confession! So true to life! The thrill and then then the crushing embarrassment. So true
