TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (FTN) – A Vigo County dad says he deeply regrets promising his three-year-old Play-Doh time to coax him into going to bed.
Chris Essex is three-year-old Alex’s dad. Chris told us earlier this week in an effort to talk his son into going to bed, he promised Alex he could play Play-Doh as soon as he woke up the next day.
The tired dad said he deeply regretted that decision.
“So, it seemed like a good idea at the time. It was Alex’s bed time. I wanted to play video games and listen to Howard Stern with my wife. It was a great idea in that moment,” Chris told us.
It did indeed get Alex to go to bed, but when he woke up at 6:30 the following morning…that was the first thing he wanted to do.
“So there’s the morning rush. Coffee, figure out the kid’s probably peed pants, breakfast…and all he wanted was Play-Doh. Holy crap,” Chris said.
He told us with Alex, Play-Doh is a production.
“There are like two crates of toys associated with Play-Doh…the dentist mouth, the grill, the Mickey stuff…so much,” Chris told us.
The upside, Chris said, was Alex was pretty “chill” while he prepared breakfast.
“Once it was all out…he was pretty much on autopilot,” Chris said.
