TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (FTN) – A local toddler was busted making up stories about his visit to a Vigo County children’s play area.
It happened after visiting the ‘Bouncin’ Barn’ in Terre Haute on Saturday.
Parents Chris and Ami Essex told FTN they took three-year-old Alex to the business for some indoor playtime, since it was raining outside on Saturday.
“So, they have a toddler area, with cars and balls, and a small Thomas (the Tank Engine) bounce house, and then they have other areas with much bigger bounce houses. They also have a big tunnel slide and basketball court,” Ami told us.
Parents say Alex spent most of the time in the toddler area and basketball court, not touching any of the bounce houses.
“He has always been afraid of bounce houses for some reason. He will look at them…but will not even go close to them,” Chris said. “I think it might be the noise from air compressor that keeps them filled.”
One of the bounce houses was fashioned after a giant school house, with a big yellow school bus on top.
“When we left, we asked him what his favorite part of the trip was…he told us it was bouncing in the school bus,” Chris said. “He didn’t go anywhere near the school bus bounce house.”
Ami compared it to someone who goes to a theme park, telling friends they rode all of the roller coasters, but was actually too scared.
“He love trying to shoot some baskets…that was adorable,” Chris said.
Parents say they will likely wait a few more months before trying the Bouncin’ Barn again.
