Local cats push for a “Toddler-Cat Watch List”

VIGO COUNTY, Ind. (FTN) – A local cat duo has proposed a new watch list to help keep them safe.

It’s called the “Toddler-Cat Watch List.”

The list was proposed by two Vigo County felines that go only by Jack and Xander.

The two felines have expressed concerns after almost two-year-old Alexander Essex goes for struggle snuggles anytime he sees them.

“Look, I know he’s got good intentions. He’s a sweet kid, but I do not need a pulled ear because junior over there wants to see how soft I am,” Xander the Cat said.

The list would require anyone under four-years-old stay at least three feet away at all times.

Here’s how it would work.

When a new child comes into a home, all cats would need to be notified.

The next step sends the proposed ordinance to lawmakers, Chris and Ami Essex.

“As the parents, we are going to vote yay or nay on this, but I don’t see a great way to enforce this,” Chris said.

Jack the Cat isn’t giving up hope.

“I just want to feel safe in my own home. I don’t want to go into hiding anytime the kid is awake.”

We grabbed a quick interview with Alex, he kept saying “titty” over and over.

We are told that means “kitty.”
